Climb Out of the Darkness® is the world’s largest event, raising funds and awareness for maternal mental illnesses, such as postpartum depression and anxiety. This year we honor the courageous women and their families on June 23rd, who have climbed out of the darkness or are still struggling with a maternal mental health issue. Please join us as moms, dads and families, medical and mental health professionals, advocates, community members who want to ‘shed light’ on these very common and treatable struggles new mothers and partners can face. We'll be meeting at Hart Plaza for a 1-mile walk, children's activities, speakers, food, and more! Find out more information at our Facebook event or register to be a fundraising Climber at our CauseVox site !

Detroit Perinatal Wellness Coalition

We envision a community where…

  • All expectant and new parents, and those who have lost a pregnancy or infant, feel accepted and empowered.

  • All providers are confident in their ability to assess for, treat, and make referrals for clients with perinatal mood disorders.

  • Parents have easy access to a wide array of effective and culturally appropriate treatment for mood disorders and loss.

  • Maternal mental health is supported by national, state, city, and institutional policies.
